Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What grills will this fit? Will this fit my grill?
A: There are an infinite number of makes and models of grills on the market today. It will fit most grills that are available at the big box stores like Home Depot or Lowes, etc. Make sure your grill has the mounting holes in the side and a clearance slot in the lid for the spit rod to pass through.
Q: How long is the spit rod?
A: The spit rod is 36” overall.
Q: Will this fit a Weber Kettle?
A: Not without alterations to the kettle itself or an adapter kit. We are currently designing one and will be available in the future.
Q: How long will the motor last?
A: That is difficult to determine as each person will use their grills differently. We have completed testing, here in the shop, where we’ve had motors running 24 hours a day, with a 16lb. steel weight attached, in excess of 4000 hours.
Q: How much meat can I put on the Meat Monkey?
A: We’ve done some testing with turkeys and hams weighing as much as 20 pounds. In doing so we’ve also found most grills don’t have room for a piece of meat that size. It is important to balance the load of meat on the spit as best as possible for even cooking and load distribution.
Q: Will this fit a Weber Genesis or Spirit grill?
A: Yes. It does, however, require a special bracket and spit rod. Because there are a number of design variations we will need to know the width of the grill so we can make the necessary modifications to the spit rod. Please put this information in the notes when ordering.
